Stellest™ Lenses: A New FDA-Authorized Solution for Myopia Control at Lake Norman Eye Care

At Lake Norman Eye Care, Dr. Mason Williams and Dr. Angela Harris are excited to introduce the new FDA-authorized Stellest™ lenses — a breakthrough technology designed to help slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children.

As childhood myopia becomes increasingly common, parents are seeking safe, effective options to help protect their child’s vision for the future. Stellest™ lenses offer an innovative, non-invasive way to manage myopia and support long-term eye health.

What Is Myopia?

Myopia, or nearsightedness, occurs when the eye grows too long, causing distant objects to appear blurry while close-up vision remains clear. This condition typically begins in school-aged children and can worsen as they grow.

High levels of myopia not only require stronger glasses but also increase the risk of serious eye diseases later in life, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and myopic maculopathy. That’s why early intervention and myopia management are so important.

What Makes Stellest™ Lenses Different?

Developed by EssilorLuxottica, Stellest™ lenses are the first spectacle lenses with FDA authorization for myopia control. Unlike traditional single-vision lenses that only correct blurry distance vision, Stellest™ lenses are clinically proven to slow myopia progression by up to 67% on average when worn consistently (12 hours per day).

How They Work:

Stellest™ lenses use H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target) technology, which incorporates hundreds of invisible lenslets that create a special signal in the eye to slow excessive eye growth — the main cause of myopia progression.

This means your child can enjoy clear, comfortable vision while protecting their eyes from further myopia-related changes.

Benefits of Stellest™ Lenses

✅ FDA-Authorized for Myopia Control – A scientifically validated and safe option for children.

✅ Clinically Proven Results – Slows myopia progression and axial eye growth.

✅ Comfortable and Easy to Wear – Looks and feels like a normal pair of glasses.

✅ Non-Invasive Option – Ideal for children who are not ready for contact lenses or eye drops.

✅ Supports Long-Term Eye Health – Reduces the risks associated with high myopia later in life.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Stellest™ lenses are designed for children diagnosed with myopia — especially those whose nearsightedness is progressing quickly or who have parents with myopia. The best results occur when treatment begins early, ideally soon after myopia is detected.

During your child’s comprehensive eye exam, Dr. Williams or Dr. Harris will evaluate their vision and determine if Stellest™ lenses, or another myopia management option, is best suited for their needs.

Other Myopia Management Options

At Lake Norman Eye Care, we take a customized approach to myopia management. In addition to Stellest™ lenses, we offer:

  • MiSight® daily contact lenses – soft contacts proven to slow myopia progression.
  • Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) – overnight contact lenses that gently reshape the cornea.
  • Low-dose atropine eye drops – used at bedtime to slow eye growth.

Our doctors will help guide you through these options and create a personalized treatment plan for your child’s vision and lifestyle.
